Hamlet

The Wooster Group's Hamlet, keyed to Richard Burton's 1964 Broadway production, might displease everyone; hard-core fans used to more irreverent deconstructions, and conventional playgoers who may find this multimedia rendition gnomic and smug. But Elizabeth LeCompte's production (with Scott Shepherd and Kate Valk) is a deep, informed and sympathetic reading.—David Cote
