Harry de Jur Playhouse

Part of the historic Henry Street Settlement, this 350-seat Georgian-style theater was originally built to accommodate silent-film showings. Because of the fire hazards typically associated with the early days of cinema, the Harry de Jur actually developed such groundbreaking fire-prevention methods as fire-proof curtains and heat-sensitive skylights.
