Matthew Lombardo’s clichéd morality tale about a flawed nun (Kathleen Turner) trying to save a gay meth addict (Evan Jonigkeit) arrives in a season full of exciting new plays (War Horse, Good People, Jerusalem, etc.). Even if High didn’t have such stiff competition, it would still come across as sub-Lifetime-movie stuff. Underplotted and plodding, the play never articulates a clear moral vision or justifies a late lurch into pseudocomplexity.—David Cote
