Japan Society mounts its commissioned stage adaptation of Yukio Mishima's 1956 novel The Temple of the Golden Pavilion, the dark tale of a mentally unstable young Buddhist monk who becomes obsessed with—and is drawn to destroy—a gorgeous 14th-century building in Kyoto. The script is a collaboration between director Leon Ingulsrud and star Major Curda; the set design is by the Berlin-based visual artist Chiharu Shiota.
