Yasu Suzuki plays an honorable gangster who cares for the widow (Hiroko Yonekura) of a man he has killed in Jun Kim's piebald multidisciplinary adaptation of Shin Hasegawa's 1928 gangster drama. The piece has an affecting simplicity when it hews to its source, but lacks focus when it veers into low comedy and J-pop dance breaks.—Adam Feldman
