Writer-composer-director Willard Beckham's winsome Nashville musical is goofy, hardworking and sweet, even if it's less hefty than a Texas tumbleweed. Kyle Dean Massey plays the hunky hero; the cast also includes Leslie Jordan and Varla Jean Merman. Beckham’s plot and Southern-fried score may be derivative, but the show is blessed with a top-rate ensemble.—David Cote
