Arin Arbus’s effective if somewhat predictable production of the Scottish play prioritizes text over any generalizing concept; the result is satisfyingly restrained. John Douglas Thompson crafts a commanding Macbeth, and Annika Boras’s fierce Lady M goes toe-to-toe with him as her ambition poignantly gives way to whimpering madness.—Paul Menard
