Kenneth Marlowe's extravagantly queer life in the 20th century included stints as a soldier, a missionary, a hustler, a pimp, a drag queen, a Hollywood hairdresser and, in later years, a trans woman named Kate. Darius Rose, the secret identity of Drag Race standout Jackie Cox, now plays Marlowe in a solo show adapted by Donald Horn, a.k.a. Donnie, from his own biography, Mr. Madam: The Life and Times of Kenneth/Kate Marlowe. Horn also directs the production, which debuted in Oregon last year under the aegis of triangle productions!, the Portland LGBTQ theater troupe he founded in 1989.
