Richard III

Kevin Spacey's flair for baleful, deadpan humor serves him well in Sam Mendes's staging of Shakespeare's history play (the final offering of the admirable Bridge Project). However, the film star shouts far too much, mangling many of hunchbacked Richard's lines. The production is fairly lucid and handsomely designed, but the supporting cast is uneven.—David Cote
