In Gregory Jacobs-Roseman’s musical rom-com, jaded New Yorker Emily and a pack of lost-in-life friends—including her coddling gay BFF, Alex—set out on a cross-country trip to attend (and possibly destroy) the wedding of Emily’s “one that got away” ex-boyfriend. What seems at first like My Best Friend’s Wedding: Part Deux transforms into a unique tale of life and friendship. Despite a few clichés, the mostly witty banter and lighthearted lyrics transport the audience back to its own quarter-life-crisis moments, and the talented cast breathes new life into the everyday trivial dramas that most of us have probably experienced. Hesitant though I was to accept its invitation at first, I urge you to R.S.V.P. yes.—Melissa Simonetti
