One of the rare theaters to call Queens its home, the Secret is well kept by artistic director Richard Mazda, who founded the space in 2007. Most of the work at this Long Island City venue (tucked behind a coffee distributor) tends to be classical, but it also includes the White Box Festival of one-act plays and can be rented by outside productions.

It is a very intimate theater with professional quality in the performances. Richard Mazda, the owner/director of the theater, himself is a lover of Shakespeare and performs magnificently in the very creative versions of his plays. I never miss a one.

Perfect place to produce a play, musical or poetry reading . . . A happy community . . . Easy access by subway or a nice cycle across Ed Koch's' bridge ❗️❤️🎭🎭

There's no theatre like it in LIC! You can see anything and everything here.

One of the best things about the Secret Theatre is the quality and size of the space. Most off off theatre's cannot match the facilities in terms of scale. The quality of the work produces glowing critical acclaim for most of the shows which once you see a show here you understand why.

Solid, professional theater in many genres and at affordable prices. The Secret Theatre is a grand act of nerve and generosity. Queens is so lucky to have it and Richard Mazda.

This space has been going strong for nine long years, featuring not only classics like Shakespeare, The Importance of Being Earnest, and Antigone, but also long-running kids' shows and acting classes, dance shows, comedy, musicals, and films. All at affordable prices! Plus, the location is right in the middle of Manhattan, Queens, and convenient!
