Back in 1998, John Cameron Mitchell wrote a groundbreaking Off Broadway musical called Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which closed in early 2000 after 857 outstanding performances at the Jane Street Theater. In 2014, the show returned to New York for the first time on Broadway, with a new home at the Belasco Theatre along with a few new Hedwigs: Neil Patrick Harris, Andrew Rannells and Michael C. Hall. Now, after a decade and a half away from the New York stage, the actor-director-writer is back to throw on the wig and reprise the role. Read our revealing interview with John Cameron Mitchell, and take a peek at these photos of his makeup transformation into the original Hedwig.
