Although this auditorium lacks the intimacy and uniform sightlines of a smaller or more traditional theater, the Skirball is an excellent destination for dance, circus, awards presentations and NT Live broadcasts. The latter is a special treat for those who love British theater but can't get over to England as much as they would like. You buy tickets that are no more expensive than an IMAX seat and enjoy a "live" (or pre-taped) HD broadcast from the stages of the National Theatre on the South Bank. Sometimes NT Live will show works from other theaters, such as Donmar Warehouse or the Barbican Theatre. Although many a theater snob will say watching theater on video is nothing compared to the live experience, you'd be surprised how engaging and informative NT Live can be. Symphony Space also runs NT Live.
