Interviews and auditions are required at this venerable studio, which was opened in 1969 by Terry Schreiber and counts Edward Norton among its conservatory graduates. Newbies can choose from beginner classes like Meisner Technique I ($695 for 12 sessions), On-Camera I ($425 for six sessions) and Beginning Technique ($550 for eight sessions). The studio also mounts full-fledged productions, too, in case you want to see its students and alumni in action.

T. Schreiber is the very best place to study acting. Amazing teachers foster a very supportive environment and the productions here are among the best I’ve seen in the city. If you’re serious about getting excellent acting training, T. Schreiber is the place!
The best thing I love about T. Schreiber, is no matter where you are in your acting career you always learn something new about yourself as an actor here. I studied under Peter Jensen and Bob Verlaque who are both amazing, nurturing teachers! And what I loved most is that their classes created a safe space where actors can express themselves freely and develop their strengths with honest guidance, and without any judgment, which really empowered me creatively. There's never any sense of competition amongst the students, other than support for each other which is so great about T. Schreiber Studios. Love this studio.
Before entering the one year conservatory at TSS, I didn’t quite know what I was doing. I was very new to acting at the time and was relying on my instincts and raw talent- which is unsustainable for a career. I literally read every acting book by every teacher and was very eager to learn the “craft” of acting. The greatest thing about TSS’s program is that there isn't just one technique or method taught for approaching a scene. TSS gives you all the tools (Adler, Meisner, Hagen, Sensory, etc) and encourages you to use what works for the individual actor while still allowing you to nurture your own unique instincts for a scene in a very safe, artist first environment. The teachers care about the work but they also care about the human and are always fighting for every actor to have a break through or discovery that will live with you long after the training is complete.
I have been taking courses at T. Schreiber Studio for nearly 3 years and just cannot say enough about the quality of the education I receive here. The instructors are phenomenal, the many courses offered are diverse and comprehensive, and the Studio itself is a welcoming, inclusive community of actors at all levels. I would highly recommend this school to any New York actor - whether you're new to the business or a seasoned working pro, T. Schreiber Studio and its outstanding teachers will help you get to the next level...and beyond.
I found Terry after stepping out of the business for a chunk of time to be the 'hub' at home. Now an empty nester, I went to T Schreiber get the muscle going again. Terry is an institution, and his teaching staff is superb. No mind games going on, just pure acting craft and the love of it! I am ever grateful that he and his staff have held onto their consummate vision after all these years and have somehow kept those doors open for the rest of us. Thank you to Terry and the whole gang!!!!!
