The possibly true story of Franceska Mann, a Polish-Jewish ballerina said to have sparked a rebellion in the gas chambers of Auschwitz, is the subject of this ambitious dance-theater-opera exploration of resistance in the face of horror. Director Cassandra Rosebeetle stars as Mann, and co-choreographs with Katherine Crockett; the score and libretto are by JL Marlor, with text by Kate Mulley. Three dancers, four singers and four musicians—all female or nonbinary—complete the ensemble.
