Part of the Theatres at 45 Bleecker complex, this space (formerly known at the Lafayette Street Theatre) is considered an Off-Off Broadway venue. As such, it is the home to many downtown productions of all kinds, including cabaret, comedy and even support-group meetings. Among its regular tenants is the newly formed Bleecker Street Opera, which presents popular operas at a low price in this intimate 99-seat setting. [Note: On October 14, 2010, the venue closed down suddenly and indefinitely because of a dispute between the theater and the space's landlord.]
