The Leg

Members of the notAmuse Theater dance on air—or at least, in air and with air—in a devised dance-theater piece that features seven company members (including choreographer Mark Bankin) performing in inflatable nylon costumes on a stage populated by inflatable set pieces. Sophie Amieva directs the production, which she conceived with Katerina Marcelja; the piece draws on the performance strategies of Butoh, bouffon and puppetry—as well as the writings of Michel Foucault and Paul B. Preciado—to explore questions of politics, pleasure, spirtuality and make-believe.
