The Paper Hat Game

Torry Bend’s grown-up puppet show, "the almost-true" story of a man who hands out paper hats to subway riders, is a bittersweet 50-minute tale of fear and bonding in the big city. While the storytelling is sometimes vague, the design (which includes puppets by Aaron Haskell and video by Raquel Salvatella de Prada) is witty and often beautiful.—Adam Feldman
