Ride the bus up to this island connected via bridge through the Bronx, for New England small down vibes just minutes from the big city. At only 1.5 miles long and half a mile wide, the entire island is super walkable, allowing you to admire Victorian homes, small shops and a view of the Long Island Sound only enhanced by the scents of fresh seafood fried at the outdoor restaurants on the island's edge. Come hungry, because in addition to deep fried shimp and clam strips, you can pop on a plastic bib at one of the the island's renowned crab and lobster shacks to dig into a feast of buttery, succulent seafood.
