The Brooklyn borough president's Literacy Council sponsors this fifth annual blissful day of reading. While there's plenty geared toward adults, two hot spots are meant to inspire youngsters. In the Target Children's Area, littles ones ages 1 to 9 can listen to readings by their favorite authors: Tad Hills, creator Duck and Goose books; Brian Floca, author and illustrator of favorites like Five Trucks and The Racecar Alphabet; and John Rocco, who illustrated the covers of Rick Riordan's series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. In the Youth Stoop (ages 10 and up), tweens can meet-and-greet such talents as graphic novelist Mike Cavallaro and Rebecca Stead, whose tale When You Reach Me won the 2010 John Newbery Medal. Time Out Kids is a media sponsor for this event. All ages.
