Time Out says

Once dismissed as the swill enjoyed by pirates of yore or just a booze 21-year-olds mix with Coke, rum is finally starting to get some of the recognition it deserves. The Brooklyn Rum Festival is all about celebrating the artistic process of distilleries and the surprisingly complex flavors to be found in rum. Guests will be able to taste over 15 different rums from across the globe, including the rich and diverse flavors of Haiti, St. Lucia, Barbados, Belize, Martinique, Jamaica, the United States and more.

Coming equipped with Caribbean food vendors, live music games and even an outdoor cigar lounge, the Brooklyn Rum Festival has thought of everything to make this the most enjoyable experience possible. Set at the 17,000 square foot BK Loft 26, you'll leave knowing more about rum and even with some complimentary promotional items. Stop by from 1-6pm on August 16 to experience this cultural immersion. Tickets start at $65.87.
