Architect Cass Gilbert is best known for designing the Woolworth Building and the U.S. Supreme Court Building, but few may be aware that he’s also behind Sunset Park’s Brooklyn Army Terminal. The 1918-19 former military-supply base currently serves as studio space for more than 85 artists—you can visit their workshops during chashama Open Studios. For extra insight into the building and the neighborhood, sign up for a walking tour run by the Municipal Art Society (Fri 20 at 7pm; $5–$10; mas.org).
