Coastal Fun along Rockaway Beach

NYC Parks is hosting a number of free, fun events at Rockaway Beach this summer, including outdoor movies, festivals, fitness classes and a sandcastle contest. Below are some of the free events you can attend:

Double Features Fridays (7-10pm) at Beach 94th St. Plaza 

Shorebird Festival (Saturday, July 3, 10am-2pm) at the Boardwalk at Beach 80th St.: Learn more about Piping Plovers, other local shorebirds, and dune ecology from Parks’ Wildlife Unit. Arts & Crafts and games will be available for all ages.

Jamaica Bay Festival: City of Water Day 2 (Saturday, July 10, 9am-3pm) at Bayswater Park Bay 32nd St. & Beach Channel Dr.: Learn about Jamaica Bay and what it takes to preserve this important habitat. Activities will include stand-up paddleboarding, arts & crafts, and games for kids.

Sandcastle Contest (Sunday, July 11, noon-2pm) at Beach 117th St.: Bring buckets and tools to join in on the 24th Annual Sandcastle Contest. No experience necessary.
