Yes, we know fresh H2O holds the title for Earth’s most precious resource, but the ocean—home to up to 1 million different species—is pretty damn important too. At this ninth annual event, participants can learn how to protect the water (and shore!) through fun activities like kite making, composting and planting, “recycling Olympics” and a mock dolphin rescues. While you learn about the outdoors in the great outdoors, grab some grub, listen to live music and take in the view of the Atlantic. Free, Firehouse 59, 5803 Rockaway Beach Blvd, Queens, May 2 noon–4pm.
