Festive Fifth

Locally owned businesses stay open late for Festive Fifth so you can linger over food, drink and holiday gift shopping. Retailers along a 30-block stretch—including TONY-approved designer thrift store Life Emporium and sneaker boutique Premium Goods—are extending their hours to 9pm. There’s also a tree-lighting ceremony (Fifth Ave at 3rd St; 6:30pm) with free hot chocolate from S’Nice, and family-friendly entertainment along the avenue, including carolers, puppeteers and jugglers. Plus, classic holiday films such as Miracle on 34th Street and It’s a Wonderful Life will be projected outside of Freddy’s Bar (627 Fifth Ave between 17th and 18th Sts) until dawn.
