Stroll into Relationships, a design showroom and coffee shop, and you’re guaranteed to be hit with a powerful blast of the muse. In this brightly lit café that sells furniture, pottery, accessories and other colorful objects, you can zip java at the long communal tables buzzing with freelancers, or sit at one of the yellow picnic benches in the backyard during warmer months. To make the most of the environs, founders Nina Schwarz and Su Beyazit curate inventive classes such as indigo dyeing and vase design. Coming up, artist Gretta Johnson will lead a flower-drawing course where you can sip Grimm ales, mingle and, yes, sketch some blossoms.
