Jamaica Rising Day Parade

On August 8, Brooklyn will host the inaugural Jamaica Rising Day Parade, celebrating Jamaican heritage and the generations of Jamaican Americans who have helped shape the city with a day of music, culture and community pride. The parade steps off Church and Flatbush avenues at 10am, with beats from DJ Danglez turning the route into a full-on island celebration. You can watch the parade for free, but those who like their festivities with a side of exclusivity can opt for an 8 to 10:30am VIP breakfast ($108) where you can mingle with elected officials, community leaders and other distinguished guests. The celebration wraps up with a block party at Dr. Ronald McNair Park along Eastern Parkway from 3 to 6pm, where participants can enjoy food, more music and the best of vibes.
