Since the weather’s warmed (a little) and legit excuses not to exercise have waned, jack up the numbers on your Fitbit by joining one of the 100-plus gratis jaunts the Municipal Art Society (MAS) has lined up for this annual fest. Now in its seventh year, the two-day extraganza salutes the spirit of urban activist and author Jane Jacobs with walking and bike tours throughout the five boroughs (and the rest of the country) that aim to better acquaint city residents with the past, present and future of their own surroundings. Highlights include “Reading the City with MAS: Lower Manhattan at All Scales," a close look at downtown’s architecture big and small with MAS executive director Margaret Newman, as well as “The Bronx’s Musical Legacy” and “Gowanus Mural Tour.” Celebrate the grand dame’s birthday (she would have been 98) with a postwalk party at Hester Street Fair (Hester St at Essex St; 4–6pm) featuring eclectic craft selections and a mobile library.
