Before he directed the seminal romance Dirty Dancing, Emile Ardolino won an Oscar and an Emmy for He Makes Me Feel Like Dancin', his joyful 1984 documentary about National Dance Institute founder Jacques d'Amboise inspiring 1,000 New York City kids to perform. On Sunday, July 26, Symphony Space celebrates NDI's 50th anniversary with screenings of the film followed by a conversation with people who helped bring the story—and the dance—to life.
