Time Out says

Skip the crowds and watch the fireworks from the water instead. NY Waterway's July 4 Fireworks Cruise offers a front-row seat to New York City's Independence Day celebrations aboard a ferry cruising the Hudson River. The evening includes skyline views, live DJ entertainment, synchronized music during the fireworks show and a full-service cash bar. Departing from Port Imperial in Weehawken at 6:30pm, the cruise also coincides with America's 250th anniversary festivities and the arrival of dozens of tall ships in New York Harbor. So take the opportunity to get up close and personal with some very big ships. Tickets start at $299 for adults, and the cruise sails rain or shine.
