An abandoned mansion in the Bronx finds new life as a temporary art space.

Nonprofit No Longer Empty, which specializes in mounting exhibitions in vacant buildings, turns its attention to the Andrew Freedman Home. The Beaux Arts mansion was built in 1924 to house rich elderly folks who had lost their fortunes. In "This Side of Paradise," 26 artists—some with personal or professional ties to the Bronx—have been given the run of the place. Their work is designed to comment upon this peculiar chapter of New York’s history. The installation is on view through June 3.
