Prospect Park Bandshell is to Brooklynites what Central Park SummerStage is to Manhattan residents—the place to hear great music in the great outdoors. The programming for the summer festival Celebrate Brooklyn! mirrors the borough’s diversity: The music runs the gamut from folk to indie and, of course, kid-friendly fare.

A great place to see an outdoor show! There is usually room in the seats but you can also spread out a blanket on the embankment and have a little picnic, they're not too strict about what you can bring in! And the trees can supply some nice shade! Celebrate Brooklyn has all their shows here, and the free one is always a hit! As well as a lot of the free movies! I wish that they had a few more options for food and drinks, but the stuff they do have is usually pretty good. Come early to hang out, but don't expect to stay late! They kick you right out!

This is where BRIC holds its free concerts in the park, the Brooklyn version, and it's a happy gathering place. It's so fun to walk or bike through the park along with tons of other people as they all gather to hear great music groups play. Depending on what group is playing, it can be easy to get in or there can be a looooong line outside the entrance. If you can't get in, then plenty of people sit outside the fence. Not the best view, but you can still hear. Inside the gates are local eateries offering items like house-made ice cream sandwiches, and there's a few dinner counters as well. There are seat, and then lots of people bring blankets for the grass.
