This intimate exhibition space sits one block from the High Line and just a short walk from the Hudson River. It's big enough to feature a variety of art at once, but also small enough that you can be in and out in just a few minutes if you're not really feeling what's inside. Plus, the location makes it a great stop along your own personally guided art tour (this area of Chelsea is great for bopping in and out of galleries).
Sofy Gallery opened in April 2026 and has since featured everything from fine art photography to blown-glass sculpture, paintings, collage work and more—in fact, they're sometimes all on display at once, like during the gallery's "The Weight of Normal Things" exhibition (ended October 24). Its mission is "to discover and champion artists whose work reveals the depth of their creative process—their research, experimentation, materials and craftsmanship," rather than lean on featuring big-name artists. The gallery invites guest curators to build out each exhibition individually, so visitors can almost rely on having unique experiences every time. It also hosts talks, workshops and special events.
