We’re coming up on the day when future wizards haul their owls, their trunks and all the supplies they’ve purchased on Diagon Alley to board the train… Back to Hogwarts.
For those of you who may not be familiar with the day, September 1 is when all Hogwarts students board the Hogwarts Express (which leaves at 11am on the dot) and get whisked off to the grandest of boarding schools. It’s been happening for centuries, and we’ll be celebrating it again this year.
Right here in NYC, you’ll be able to experience it at both Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway and our own version of London’s King’s Cross—Grand Central Station.
We’ll start with the show, which our own beloved wizard of theater knowledge, Adam Feldman, called a “a triumph of theatrical magic.” Plan to experience the magic live on September 1. Whether it’s your first time or your tenth (we feel seen), you’ll be transported via this thrilling production which continues the story of Harry, Ron and Hermione 19 years after their epic victory. In this staged installment, we get to meet Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy—Harry and Draco’s sons, respectively—as they take on Dementors and bend time itself to save the wizarding world once more.
With award-winning productions playing around the globe in London, Hamburg and Tokyo—and a North American Tour also launching in September—New York’s Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway still holds the record for highest weekly ticket sales for a Broadway play. So stop just sitting there and book your tickets to see the show and celebrate heading back to Hogwarts right now!
There's even more to Back to Hogwarts, though. From August 30 until September 1, you can experience Back to Hogwarts live, official and free! Usually held at King’s Cross in London, 2024 will see its first-ever U.S. experience, right here in NYC at Grand Central Station. Bonus, you’ll also find a special contribution from Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway. There’s also an 11am countdown that you’ll need a ticket to attend, but don’t worry, it’s free.
Get ready to feel like you’re heading to Platform 9¾ without stepping foot outside of New York City, all while celebrating Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Broadway at Back to Hogwarts alongside fellow fans.
