What is Climb Fest?
The North Face Climb Fest, held last year in Chicago, is going global this year to celebrate the sport and introduce new audiences to the world of climbing. The free outdoor event popped up in London and Shanghai earlier this year. The two-day event in NYC is centered around an adrenaline-pumping competition in which skilled climbers race to scale a 55-foot wall over the deep water of the East River.
When and where is Climb Fest?
Climb Fest will set up shop at Pier 5 at Brooklyn Bridge Park from August 23–24, 2024. The event is free, no ticket required.
Climb Festival highlights
The heart of the festival is the climbing, and the marquee competition will take your breath away. Oh, and did we mention they’re climbing without ropes? Witness the strength, skill, speed and finesse of these top climbers as they race to the top then drop into the water. Sound like something you’re into? Register for the competition here. For those of us who won’t be ascending the wall, the event will be just as thrilling to watch from the ground.
Experienced climbers and newbies alike can scramble up a bouldering wall at the festival. Learn the ropes, practice your skills or show off like the (literal) rock star that you are. Mix and mingle with other climbers to swap tips, climb spots and more.
A series of panel discussions on topics like “The Culture of Climb” and more that will be hosted by legendary climbers Alex Honnold (daring rock climber documented in the film Free Solo) and Chris Sharma (climbing adventurer and developer of HBO’s climbing competition show The Climb). If climbing is not enough to get you going, there will be DJ sets throughout the event, soundtracking the competition and offering spectators some motivation to get moving.
The Lot Radio is curating an A-list of DJs for Friday and Saturday to keep the energy high with a mix of electronic and hip hop beats. The lineup includes Cosmo, Toribio, EDEN and Las Flaquitas. The North Face has also teamed up with NYC producers "Renegade" to close out the event with a surprise set. Stay close to IG to see when the big-name headliner will drop.
