A Scanner Darkly
Time Out says
Gajah Gallery is presenting its very first online exhibition on May 1, featuring a solo showcase by the innovative Indonesian artist Rosit Mulaydi. Titled A Scanner Darkly, the exhibition explores the nature of online self-presentation including the construction of identity through the mediated screen of digital devices. Rosit's paintings combine the traditionally taught artistic practice of copying Old Master works with the remix culture of the internet – all in order to critique and explore the self-editorial capacity of content creators, disembodied interactions, and reactions of online others. It also looks at how one imagines and values oneself in today's social media age.
