Time Out says

Take a deep dive into the human psyche with local multimedia artist project duo Paradise Now. Lining the walls of Sprmrkt at Dempsey Hill, 'archetypes' is the brainchild of Bryan Tan and Jay Ho, featuring eight minimalist artworks of abstract pattern and objects made from materials including silkscreen, instant film, oil, acrylic on canvas and a mouse cage. Together, they illustrate the pair's take on the birth of personalities, its influence over a person, and subsequently, the collective existence.

Have you ever wondered why we look at the world a certain way? 'archetypes' might just help you further explore this question while bringing art into the picture. As its name suggests, the inspiration derives from the Myer-Briggs Type Indicator's 16 personality types, eight functional stacks, and 'archetypes', a term that's referred to the collectively inherited unconscious pattern of thoughts, ideas, and symbols that are universally present in individual psyches. The new series acts as the artists' vehicle to explore how personalities can be interpreted – investigating its application and effects on their creative process – from conceptualisation to production. The eight artworks are aptly titled Anima, Nemesis, Child, Demon, Parent, CriticHero and Trickster – each rooted in Carl Jung's theories, defined as universal, archaic symbols and images that derive from the collective unconscious. The works explore the various facets that contribute to one's personality.

'archetypes' is part of SPRMRKT's online initiative, 'Artists In Their Space', which gives an insider's look at the duo's process with the release of footage of them at work in the studio – bridging the gap between creators and their audience. You can stream it on SPRMRKT's website and IGTV here
