Confluence Art Space presents The Quiet Revolutionary, a month-long exhibition that gathers over 50 career-defining works by Singaporean artist Chua Ek Kay. The showcase pays tribute to the late Cultural Medallion recipient by tracing more than three decades of his artistic practice and lasting influence on contemporary Chinese ink. Through his many paintings, discover how Chua blends classical ink techniques with abstraction, colour and modern composition, which often result in tranquil pieces that are minimal yet striking. Some of the earliest works on display date back to the early 1980s, offering a glimpse into the technical foundations that would later shape Chua’s signature style. Among the highlights are his atmospheric depictions of old Singapore streets, which include familiar landmarks and monuments like Cecil Street and the former City Hall building. Another standout not to miss at the exhibition is Peace by the Pond. It’s a semi-abstract illustration of a lotus pond that combines delicate geometric shapes and soft washes of green and yellow, stretching over 2.5 meters wide.
