Explore your creative side at the Goodman Open House this weekend. The arts centre is throwing a big celebration of the local arts scene on its grounds with a full line-up of ticketed craft workshops, free all-day activities, artist open studios, live performances, and a vibrant pop-up market.
On June 24, bring the whole family to Goodman Arts Centre to explore new crafts and meet interesting artists and organisations based in Singapore. Out of the many workshops available, you can get a taste of contemporary dance (and possibly spark a long-term hobby) at a taster workshop by T.H.E Dance Company or try out Turkish floral motif painting with Swayam Folk Art Painting.
Otherwise, wander around and discover all-day drop-in activities, which include prompted writing challenges by the Singapore Book Council, zine-making with radioriotgrrrl and manga and comics drawing workshops by ComXnaut Studio. Various artists will also be opening up their studios. This is your chance to view works from the likes of rug-makers DPLMT, photographic artist Billy Soh, and third-gen Singapore's Artist Abu Jalal Sarimon and chat with them to learn more about their artmaking processes.
From something to do to something to see, catch live performances throughout the day too. Era Dance Theatre will be showing off the lively sequences of joget, a Malay traditional dance while artist Aaron Gan will be filling up a blank canvas with vibrant strokes of watercolour in a live painting demonstration. Journey through the stories of Singapore with the evocative melodies of the Singapore Lyric Opera or sit down for a picnic and storytelling session with The Storytelling Centre.
