Time Out says

Unravel the beauty of two traditional Asian textile techniques – batik and indigo – at Singapore-based visual artist Alison Wilson’s upcoming solo exhibition, Land, Sea & Sky: A World in Indigo. She will be showcasing 12 new artworks depicting natural scenes and landscapes, crafted using an intricate layering of wax and indigo natural dyes. Besides marvelling at these eye-catching works, you’ll also be able to dive into the mastery of batik technique.

“This exhibition showcases how batik is used in fine art as a medium for world building and storytelling. Having these landscapes depicted in different shades of indigo dyes and symbolism, they present a different perspective that is geared to incite conversation among the art, environmental sustainability and cultural heritage enthusiasts,” says Tony Sugiarta, curator of the exhibition and Managing Director at aNERDgallery.

Alongside the exhibition, don’t miss out on a chance to meet the artist at her artist talk happening on March 9, 3pm. There will also be a curator’s tour on March 9 and 16, 11am and 3pm respectively. And there’s also something for the kids – join the artist for a storytelling session and a craft workshop on either March 13 or 14, 10am. There will also be another storytelling session with Hafiz Rashid on March 15, 8pm. Lastly, for those that are looking to try their hand at printmaking, sign up for her printmaking workshop on March 16, 10pm.
