STPI – Creative Workshop and Gallery has just introduced its 'Let's Chat' series, which aims to reignite intimate first-hand conversations with artists and explore sentiments behind their work, practice and life a little closer. The next guest is Suzann Victor, a prolific Singaporean artist whose practice spans over 20 years. She started her practice in the late 1980s as an award-winning abstract painter in Singapore and was the first female Singaporean representative at the 49th Venice Biennale.
Suzann's thought-provoking installations have graced international platforms, including the 6th Havana Biennale, 2nd Asia-Pacific Triennial at Queensland Art Gallery, and the 5th Seoul International Media Art Biennale. Back at home, she exhibited her installation A Thousand Skies at the Singapore Night Festival in 2018. An imposing pavilion-like structure was erected in Raffles City Shopping Mall. Suzann's installation was made up of a unique soft architecture of transparent lenses distinctively assembled, transforming the way the audience views and experience the surrounding environment.
Find more about the artist's inspiration and practice during STPI's online exclusive chat. Join Jasdeep Sandhu, Gallery Director and Founder of Gajah Gallery and Suzann herself as they talk about the artist's rich practice, her experience at STPI, and personal reflections on art-making.
