Time Out says

Silver Arts 2021 is back for a 10th edition to celebrate seniors and creative ageing. This time, it follows a hybrid format with a dynamic mix of physical and digital programmes for silver audiences to enjoy with friends and family.

Themed 'TENacity', this year's festival is all about hope and continued possibilites, which senior folks and communities have embodied during these difficult times. 120 arts, arts organisations and community groups have come together to present more than 30 programmes including live performances, digital workshops and exhibitions. Available in English, Mandarin, Malay, Tamil and Chinese dialects, seniors can expect to explore themes and stories from peers in various communities.

Last year's Silver Arts was an all-digital affair, but physical programmes are making a welcome comeback in Silver Arts 2021. Catch the comical Mandarin play Curtain Call, and catch four digital performances from last year's festival – now re-adapted for the stage. This includes song repertoire Old Songs of Redhill Market by Toy Factory Productions Ltd; Romantic Keroncong by Wadah Seni Entertainment; Evergreen Symphony Jukebox by Asian Cultural Symphony Orchestra and a musical tribute to Teresa Teng in Ding Yi's Music Company's I Only Care About You.

Seniors can also head down to the theatres for a little trip down memory lane. Sing along to nostalgic tunes from the 40s in SwingOUT Party by City Swing Big Band, celebrate the golden age of Malay films with Gambar Kegemaran, serenade loved ones with
songs of yesteryear in Oldies but Goodies and join an intergenerational jam
session to the tunes of the 60s and 70s in Music Hall: That’s My Jam by Broadband.

Those who want to join in the fun from home can get cultured with Silver Arts' range of digital events. Highlights include The Glowers Drama Group's radio play series Chap Lau which will transport listeners back to the kampong days; a lively singing cook-along session in The Singing Chef by Irene Jansen and Family; a virtual tour in Tiong Bahru: Walkshop with Young Artist Award recipient Marc Nair to discover Tiong Bahru. Seniors can also discover new talents with artist led workshops  providing introductory lessons in lindy hop, acappella singing and handbells, amongst others.

To be kept in the loop on upcoming programmes, subscribe to the Silver Arts WhatsApp channel and help your beloved parents and grandparents start their online art journey.
