Singapore Design Week returns this year once again to spotlight our homegrown design community while commemorating DesignSingapore Council (Dsg)’s 20th anniversary. In celebration of Dsg’s milestone, the 11-day festival will undertake their motto ‘Better by Design’.
This year's edition will feature ‘Design Districts’ as a prominent attraction of the festival across three distinct areas – Bras Basah.Bugis, Marina Bay, and Orchard Road. Each precinct will unveil each of their own distinctive traits through curated design experiences.
There’s lots to see – for starters, populating the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct are design installations by local established designers like Jackson Tan (creative director of BLACK), Pann Lim (creative director of Kinetic Singapore), and Ong Ker Shing and Joshua Comaroff (co-founders of Lekker Architects). Their creations will tackle current day issues such as sustainability and inclusivity, while also introducing innovative concepts.
The annual Design Futures Forum will also be held, serving as a platform for dialogues on Singapore’s future in design. Furthermore, Asia's premier trade fair, FIND - Design Fair Asia, will take place at Marina Bay Sands for its second edition. The trade fair will embody the theme ‘CRAFT + INDUSTRY: MAN + MACHINE,’ boasting the participation of 50 talented designers, both emerging and established, hailing from Southeast Asian countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
In addition to these highlights, there will be 80 ground-up events to anticipate, ranging from exhibitions, seminars, and panel discussions to workshops, tours, and retail pop-ups.
Stay tuned to their website for more programmes yet to be announced.
