This tour takes you through two levels and 700 years of Singapore's history, and we can already imagine families and young children ooh-ing and aah-ing over the dazzling light displays, holograms and interactive media.
Every journey needs a guide, and the red-dot inspired robot called R65 is your companion for this one. Out of nine zones, standouts include the Island of Myths, a forested room with screens dedicated to a holographic tale of Sang Nila Utama, a wayang kulit display of the myths of the five rajas, and leaves that light up with extra stories and trivia when you wave your hands over them. The next zone Rivers of Time is an immersive, wall-to-wall walk-through that tells the story of the Singapore River, tracing our development from the first Singapore Treaty to the bustling skyscrapers we see today.
On the second floor, kids will love Kaleidoscope Walk and Teleport. The former features kaleidoscopic panels in the ceiling that pay homage to our nation's major cultures: Malay batik prints, Chinese embroidery, Indian paisley and more. Meanwhile, Teleport includes panels where children and adults alike can play interactive games while learning more about the city.
If you've bought the combo package that includes a ride on the Singapore Flyer – and we recommend that you do – you'll be whisked up to the third floor to board a capsule. It's a fitting wrap to that blast to the past, as you get to enjoy a 360-degree view of Singapore as it is today from the very top of the 165-metre-tall giant wheel.
Time Capsule operates from Thursdays to Sundays, currently at a reduced capacity to allow for safe distancing measures.
