Fancy a tipple or two? While bars (and speakeasies – what a time to be alive!) are closed due to the circuit breaker, William Grant & Sons is not showing signs of slowing down. Instead, the family-owned distiller is teaming up with some of your favourite local watering holes to stay 'open' via 1887 Virtual Bar. Watch guest bartenders shake up four special cocktails via Zoom, in which you can purchase 'em concoctions online. This also marks the first-ever virtual bar initiative in Singapore that doubles as a fundraiser.
The weekly initiative kickstarted on April 9, featuring guest bartenders serving up themed menus online alongside the regional brand ambassadors of Hendrick's Gin and Glenfiddich, Charmaine Thio and Brett Bayly. These menus are available to purchase online, in which every $20 donated to your bar of choice will entitle you to a digital drink voucher. The voucher is redeemable when the bar resumes operations.
William Grant & Sons is also standing in solidarity with the bar community by matching the values of up to $1,000 per bar. Participating bars include Shin Gi Tai, Nutmeg & Clove and more.
