To celebrate The St Regis Singapore's 10th year anniversary, Time Out Singapore transformed Astor Bar, the hotel's premier cocktail establishment into a sexy drinking den inspired by 1930s Shanghai. We invited readers and guest bartenders to party with us crazy rich Asians style at the inaugural Time Out Cocktail Club: Shanghai Nights. There was free flow beer, four exclusively crafted cocktails, Asian-inspired canapés and jazzy tunes all night long – here's exactly what went down.

The night kicked off with Christian Chavez, the bar manager of Astor Bar, and his drink Astor of the Orient. A refreshing start to the evening, the tipple was a mix of Mount Gay rum, lemon juice, fresh ginger, blueberry and housemade tea syrup made from an exclusive St Regis Singapore blend crafted in partnership with TWG. Topped off with ginger beer, the punchy drink with a touch of spice reinvigorated the palate for more to come.

Next up was Andrew Loudon, the head bartender of Tippling Club, who gave us an education on Shanghai's golden age. While the rest of the world was struggling, the Chinese city was a beacon of glitz and glam – giving rise to his creation, Goddess. The alluringly sweet women of the time inspired the fig-infused Rémy Martin cocktail finished with lemon juice and maple syrup.

Moving the night along, we had Ronan Keilthy, one of Singapore's rising bartenders who shakes drinks up at Junior and 28HKS. His creation, The French Concession is a boozy beverage of Remy Martin VSOP, The Botanist gin, jasmine-infused bianco vermouth, Kina L’Aero d’Or and teapot bitters garnished with a lemon twist – reminiscent of something you'd find at the Shanghainese district back in the day.

To end the evening, Sam Wong, the group chief bartender of Coterie Concepts who's currently based at Mona Lounge, treated everyone to some Dangerous Romance. The cheeky cocktail featured Cointreau, tequila, lime juice, homemade tomato shrub and was garnished with bak kwa and thyme – a savoury way wrap up the evening on a high note.

Guests were also treated to canapés like drunken chicken wrapped in cucumber, smoked salmon rolls, crispy pork belly on deep-fried mantous and chilli crab balls alongside an endless supply of Peroni beer at the bar.
