Time Out says

The art of the written word and cocktail-making come together at Writers Bar. The luxurious drinking hole at Raffles Hotel Singapore pays homage to the literary authors that have once stayed at the storied property. And exclusive to the space is a selection of cocktails made using an exclusive 1915 Raffles Gin that features Asian botanicals of jasmine, kaffir lime leaf, nutmeg, and cardamom. Sample it in a classic gin and tonic ($28), or try the lesser-known Million Dollar Cocktail ($28), concocted by the same person who invented the Singapore Sling.

To further spotlight various literary talents, the Writer’s Residency Programme was also established to nurture works inspired by the restored hotel.

The Raffles Affair

Murder and mixology.

The latest invited Writer-in-Residence, travel writer and author Vicki Virtue, has penned a crime-solving novel set in Raffles Hotel Singapore. To complement The Raffles Affair paperback (available for purchase at the Raffles Boutique and online), head bartender Nicholas Alexander has brought the story to life by creating a range of libations ($28) inspired by the characters and their personalities.

Get acquainted with Victoria West, the protagonist, with Agent Provocateur that comes with a fresh, bright blend of Blandy’s 5 Year Bual Madeira, El Dorado 12, Concord Grenadine, lemon, and mint. Or try Saboteur, an unexpected twist on the classic martini with Citadelle Reserve Gin perfumed with Elixir Vegetal White Tea.

For maximum enjoyment, we recommend dropping by this quiet space to read, sip, and immerse in a deliciously thrilling whodunit adventure. And while flipping through the pages, don’t forget to reach out for some light bites. Lobster roll ($32) packs a spice-scented surprise with a curry mayonnaise dressing, and samosas ($8) come stuffed with an aromatic blend of chicken or vegetables.
