Climate change. We all know that it's a real concern, but how many of us actually grasp the specific effects it'll have on our lives? We had a sneak peak when we headed down to Orchard Road where three booths, set up by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), highlight how climate extremities such as heat waves and extreme floodings will affect Singaporeans.

In fact, 2014 was the world’s hottest year, according to the WWF. Just this March, the increase in temperature brought about a plankton boom , leading to widespread fish deaths in our local fisheries.

So how can we as individuals do our part? Here are five steps you can do to help.

1. Turn up your air conditioning by one degree Celsius.

2. Say ‘no’ to plastic bags.

3. Recycle your e-waste.

4. Turn off your switches.

5. Make donations via EZ-Link cards at the Tap2Donate photo-walls

This year’s Earth Hour will be celebrated on March 28 between 8.30-9.30pm. The Climate Change Trail is open to public until March 28 (Mon-Fri 5-8pm; Sat & Sun 2-9pm).
