Since opening its first coffee-bar-from-the-future in 2014, the concept's continued to pull together a star-studded list of coffee roasters like Tim Wendelboe (Oslo), Sweet Bloom (Colorado), The Coffee Collective (Copenhagen) and Nylon (Singapore) to tackle the morning and post-lunch sleepies with gourmet caffeine.
This year, The New Black upped the game with a new café at Republic Plaza, and its new director of coffee and education, Bronwen Serna. Tasked with training The New Black's smiley baristas, furthering Singapore's love for a good cuppa and bringing out the best in imported beans, the former US Barista Champion is working to push coffee standards further in the city.
