You probably won’t do it. As a nod to the simple life, Inch Chua settled in Ubin and lived for four months in solitude, going back to the basics when it came to daily necessities. And it was there, in a kampong house surrounded by nature, that the homegrown singer-songwriter found inspiration to write a new album.

Letters to Ubin is a musical journal of sorts, influenced by her time on the island where everything was stripped down, both musically and personally. It marks a departure from the indie rock sounds of her sophomore record, Bumfuzzle, instead going for electronic beats and quirky animal sounds – some of which were sampled from her adventures on Ubin.

Watch her music video for the album's first single 'Mousedeer'.

Inch Chua’s Letters to Ubin Launch is at the Aliwal Arts Centre on Nov 26.
